The Department of Periodontology and Implantology celebrated National Periodontist Day on 23rd February 2026 at the Institute of Dental Sciences, Bareilly International University. The program, themed “Promoting Periodontal Health, Sustainability, and Clinical Excellence,” aimed to enhance academic knowledge, promote patient awareness, and encourage sustainable dental practices.
A postgraduate quiz competition was conducted to strengthen clinical reasoning and evidence-based understanding of periodontal concepts. A reel-making competition further promoted creativity and digital learning among students.
An eco-drive initiative included the distribution of bamboo toothbrushes and toothpaste samples, along with awareness about reducing plastic waste in oral hygiene practices. Additionally, a patient education program was conducted in the OPD, featuring chairside demonstrations of proper brushing and interdental cleaning techniques, along with guidance on periodontal disease prevention and management.
The event benefited 18 postgraduate students and 94 patients, with active involvement from 7 faculty members. It successfully enhanced student competencies, improved patient awareness, and promoted sustainable oral healthcare practices.
Overall, the program achieved its objectives and reflected the department’s commitment to academic excellence, community service, and environmental responsibility.
